On 10 August 1904, Russian Pacific Fleet got underway from Port Arthur by Imperial Order and headed Vladivostok. The naval engagement between the Japanese combined and Russian Pac. Fleets took place in the Yellow Sea. The Russian Fleet's flag ship, the TZESAREVITCH, lost its steerage due to heavy bombardment and after the battle, five Russian battleships and several other vessels returned to Port Arthur while other remaining ships escaped to neutral countries and were later disarmed.
